So what am I getting about here? Just this. On July 1st, Google Reader is going to cease to exist and if you don't want to lose the list of sites you are subscribed to, now is the time to switch over to a different reader. I subscribe to a number of blogs, and I don't want to lose any of them. Naturally I was upset when I heard this news the other day from a couple of the blogs that I follow. Fortunately, they also posted some alternatives to Google Reader that offered easy transfers of the blogs that I am subscribed to. I chose to use Feedly
Feedly, like the soon to be extinct Google Reader, is free. I signed in and it enabled me to simply click and transfer all my favorite blogs in seconds. It offers a variety of viewing formats from Flipboard stye to a simple list. So far so good. It's what I'm using for now to keep up with everyone I don't want to lose. I placed a Feedly button on my webpage for easy subscription. If you subscribe to The Colors Of Indian Cooking with Google Reader as your RSS feed, there are a number of other alternatives besides Feedly and The Guardian has an excellent piece HERE with links. Check them out. There seems to be something for everyone, but make sure you switch to an alternative as I don't want to blip off your radar on the 1st of July.
Of course you can also follow along on Facebook , Twitter & Google + So don't forget, if you want to keep your RSS feed make the jump to something else and don't go all Game of Thrones on July 1st. Heads Will Roll!
Hi Kath,
ReplyDeleteBeen using Bloglovin' since Google retired their reader. I especially like the toolbar. It allows you to surf your unread posts, very convenient!
All the best to you!
Thanks, i'll check it out!
DeleteI moved to Feedly some months back, when I first heard about the demise of Google Reader, and I don't regret it. Feedly is amazing. And you know you're on my feed!
