Do I Have What it Takes To Be An Iron Foodie??!

Iron Foodie 2010 | Here's Why that will be me:
MarxFoods.com -- Fine Bulk Foods         The Foodie BlogRoll

This week I became an official FoodNinja. How then could I resist Foodie Blogrolls' invitation to  compete in their Iron Foodie Competition?

#1. Why do you want to compete in this challenge?

Because I love to cook and I love competition. I love competition so much that I do not allow myself to participate in board games because in my twisted brain Candyland and Monopoly turn into minor turf wars. And in the name of friendship and family harmony I absent myself from them.  However a cooking competition in the privacy of my own kitchen with real knives and stuff??? I am so in!

#2. Limitations of time/space notwithstanding, whose kitchen would you like to spend the day in & why? Julia Child, Thomas Keller, Ferran Adria, James Beard, Marie-Antoine Careme, or The Swedish Chef?

My choice would be Julia Child since as a kid I absolutely loved her cooking show and lived for the moments when she would drop something onto the floor and then cook/serve it anyway. She believed what happens in the kitchen stays in the kitchen. She also talked to her food as she prepared it. My favorite Julia Child quote is "Eat hearty Chicken Little for you have little time!" I also loved the fact that nothing culinary frightened her and that she was willing to attempt anything in the name of good eating.

#3What morsel are you most likely to swipe from family & friends’ plates when they aren’t looking?

I learned early on that they are always looking, and if the food is good enough, they will let you swipe nothing! After all,  it's easy to take stuff from a dollar store but it's damn hard to break into Tiffanys.

#4. Sum your childhood up in one meal.

Half frozen fish sticks. I couldn't wait to be tall enough to reach the stove.

#5. The one mainstream food you can’t stand?

Mayo. I know it's a condiment but it's on everything. It even seems to be its' own food group, aioli. I can't tell you why I hate it as my family assures me that as a kid I loved it, but somewhere along the line things changed.

So there you have it..my entry in the Iron Foodie Competition.
